Frequently asked questions
Why did I get no subtitle file?
The video may have no subtitle track, or the captions are burned into the image. Only embedded text tracks can be extracted. Image-based tracks may need OCR.
Which subtitle format should I save as?
SRT works almost everywhere and is the simplest. VTT is for web players, and ASS keeps styling such as fonts and positions if the original had it.
Can it extract subtitles that are burned into the picture?
No. Burned-in subtitles are part of the image, not text. Only separate subtitle tracks stored inside the file can be saved as a subtitle file.
Is Extract subtitles from video free?
Yes. Extract subtitles from video on Toolipedia is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is it safe to use?
Yes. Your files travel over an encrypted connection, are processed automatically, and are deleted as soon as the result is ready. Nobody looks at them.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android and iPhone, as well as on tablets and computers. There's nothing to install.

Up to 200 MB in total. You can add several files at once.
