About Credit card number validator
Checks whether a card number has a valid structure using the Luhn algorithm: double every second digit from the right, subtract 9 if over 9, sum everything and test for a multiple of 10. It also guesses the network from the starting digits. It cannot tell if an account is real or has funds.

It is a simple checksum on the digits that catches most typing errors, such as a swapped or wrong digit. It does not check balance, expiry or whether the account is active.
How is the card network detected?
The network comes from the first digits and the length of the number. For example, the starting digits point to Visa, Mastercard or others. It is a format match only.
