Frequently asked questions
How much smaller is MP3 compared with WAV?
Roughly a tenth of the size at typical bitrates. A minute of CD-quality WAV is about 10 MB, while a 128 kbps MP3 is around 1 MB.
Should I keep the WAV after converting?
Yes, if you may edit the audio again. MP3 discards some detail, and converting it back to WAV does not restore it. Keep the WAV as your master copy.
Why is my WAV file so large?
WAV stores uncompressed audio, so it takes a lot of space per minute. Converting it to MP3 is the usual way to make it easier to share or store.
Is WAV to MP3 free?
Yes. WAV to MP3 on Toolipedia is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is it safe to use?
Yes. Your files travel over an encrypted connection, are processed automatically, and are deleted as soon as the result is ready. Nobody looks at them.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android and iPhone, as well as on tablets and computers. There's nothing to install.
How big can my files be?
Up to 200 MB in total. You can add several files at once.
Do I need an account?
No. Just open the page and use the tool. There's no sign-up and no email needed.
