Frequently asked questions
How do I convert cubic metres to litres?
One cubic metre equals 1,000 litres. So a tank of 0.5 cubic metres holds 500 litres. Cubic centimetres convert at 1,000 per litre.
Why must all dimensions use the same unit?
Mixing, say, centimetres and metres gives a wrong result. Convert first, so the volume comes out in cubic units of that single unit.
What is the volume of a cone compared with a cylinder?
A cone with the same base and height as a cylinder holds exactly one third of its volume. A pyramid has the same one third relationship with a prism.
