Can I decode Vigenere without the key?
Often yes, if the message is long enough. The solver looks for the repeating key length and then tests letter frequencies. Very short messages leave too little data to be sure.
How does the keyword work?
Each letter of the keyword gives a shift for the matching letter of your message, and the keyword repeats along the text. A different shift per letter makes it harder than a Caesar cipher.
How good is the solver?
It estimates the keyword from letter patterns, so it works best on longer messages. Short texts give too little to analyse, and the result may be wrong.
