About Recipe scaler

Paste a list of ingredients and choose a multiplier or the number of servings you want, and every amount is recalculated, with sensible fractions like 1/2 and 3/4. Spices, salt, yeast and baking powder do not always scale perfectly, so taste and adjust when doubling or more.

How to use Recipe scaler

  1. Paste the ingredient list into the box.
  2. Enter the original and wanted number of servings.
  3. Read the scaled amounts, shown with fractions.

Frequently asked questions

Can I double any recipe by doubling every ingredient?

Mostly, but cooking time, pan size, salt and strong spices may need adjusting. Baking recipes are the most sensitive to changes.

Which amounts should I not scale exactly?

Salt, spices, leavening and baking time often do not scale in a straight line. Scale them, then taste and adjust, and check pan size too.

How should I format the ingredients?

Put one ingredient per line with the amount first, such as 2 cups flour. Fractions like 1/2 work, and clear amounts give the best result.
