About Quiz buzzer
Each team gets its own key, and the first press locks out everyone else and shows who buzzed in. That solves the classic argument about who was first at pub quizzes, classroom reviews and family game nights. Reset between questions to start a fresh round.
How to use Quiz buzzer
- Add your teams and give each one its own key.
- Start a round so the buzzer is open.
- Let teams press their key, then read which team name appears first and reset for the next question.

Frequently asked questions
How does it decide who pressed first?
It records the first key event it receives and then locks the others until you reset. On one keyboard, differences of a few milliseconds are decided by the browser's event order.
Why should every team use a different key?
Each team needs a unique key so the buzzer can tell who pressed. Pick keys far apart on the keyboard so players do not hit each other's keys by accident.
Do I need to reset after each question?
Yes. After a team wins, reset the buzzer to open it again. Otherwise the previous winner stays locked in and new presses will not count.
Is Quiz buzzer free?
Yes. Quiz buzzer on Toolipedia is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is it safe to use?
Yes. Everything is worked out in your browser, and nothing you enter is sent to our server.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android and iPhone, as well as on tablets and computers. There's nothing to install.
