About Compare PDFs visually

Overlays two versions of a PDF and marks the pixels that differ, so you can see edits that a text diff would miss: moved images, changed colours, shifted layout or a swapped logo. It is useful for proofreading design revisions and checking that a contract was not altered.

How to use Compare PDFs visually

  1. Open the older PDF and then the newer version.
  2. Let the tool compare each page and mark the differences.
  3. Review the highlighted changes page by page.

Frequently asked questions

Does it catch small layout changes?

Yes, because it compares what each page looks like, not only the words. Even a one-pixel shift can be flagged, so tiny differences from re-exporting may also appear.

Which file should be first, the old or the new one?

Put the older version first and the newer one second, so changes read as what was added or removed in the update. If the marks look reversed, just swap the two files.

Why do pages show many changes when I only edited one line?

If text reflowed, pages after the edit may shift and look different. Pages that moved or have a different size also confuse the comparison, so make sure both files use the same page size.

Is Compare PDFs visually free?

Yes. Compare PDFs visually on Toolipedia is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark.
