About Midpoint and distance formula calculator
Give two points in 2D or 3D and get the distance, midpoint, slope and angle between them. Distance comes from the Pythagorean theorem extended to coordinates: the square root of the summed squared differences. The midpoint is just the average of each coordinate.
How to use Midpoint and distance formula calculator
- Choose 2D or 3D.
- Enter the coordinates of point A and point B.
- Read the distance, midpoint, slope and angle between them.

Frequently asked questions
What is the midpoint of (2, 4) and (8, 10)?
Average each coordinate: (2 + 8) / 2 = 5 and (4 + 10) / 2 = 7. The midpoint is (5, 7), and the distance between the points is about 8.49.
How is the distance between two points calculated?
It is the Pythagorean theorem: the square root of the sum of the squared differences in x, y and, for 3D, z. In 2D that is the square root of dx squared plus dy squared.
What does the angle result mean?
It is the direction of the line from A to B, measured against the positive x-axis. A vertical line has no defined slope, but still has an angle.
Is Midpoint and distance formula calculator free?
