    About Straighten scanned PDF

Crooked scans happen when paper enters the scanner at a slight angle. This tool detects the tilt of each page and rotates it upright. Optionally it adds OCR so the straightened pages become searchable. Straight pages also improve OCR accuracy and look better on screen.

How to use Straighten scanned PDF

    1. Add your scanned PDF.
    2. Tick the option to make the text searchable if you want that.
    3. Run it and download the straightened PDF.

    Frequently asked questions

Does straightening reduce the scan quality?

Rotating by a small angle resamples the image slightly, which can soften it a little. The effect is usually minor compared with the gain from having level text.

What kind of tilt can it fix?

It works best on small tilts from scanning, where the text lines are slightly slanted. Pages that are upside down or badly rotated may need turning first.

Why would I turn on the searchable text option?

It runs OCR as well, so you can select, copy and search the text in the straightened pages. It takes longer than only straightening.

    Is Straighten scanned PDF free?

Yes. Straighten scanned PDF on Toolipedia is free to use, with no sign-up and no watermark.

    Is it safe to use?

Yes. Your files travel over an encrypted connection, are processed automatically, and are deleted as soon as the result is ready. Nobody looks at them.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It works in any modern browser on Android and iPhone, as well as on tablets and computers. There's nothing to install.

How big can my files be?

Up to 200 MB in total. You can add several files at once.

    Do I need an account?

No. Just open the page and use the tool. There's no sign-up and no email needed.
