Add VAT to a net price or take it out of a gross price, with common rates such as 5 percent in the UAE, 15 percent in Saudi Arabia and 20 percent in the UK. The key mistake is subtracting the rate from the gross: to remove 20 percent VAT, divide by 1.20, not multiply by 0.80.

How do I remove VAT from a price?
Divide the gross price by one plus the rate. With 5 percent VAT, divide by 1.05. The difference between the two amounts is the VAT.
What is the difference between net and gross price?
The net price is without VAT and the gross price includes it. When removing VAT the tool treats your number as the gross price and works back to net.
Can I use it for sales tax or GST?
Yes, enter your local rate. The calculation of a percentage added to or taken out of a price is the same, but check how your country shows tax on invoices.
