Which Argon2 variant should I use?
Argon2id. It combines resistance to side-channel attacks from Argon2i with the GPU resistance of Argon2d, and it is the default advice for password storage.
What do memory and iterations control?
Memory sets how much RAM each hash uses, and iterations set how many passes are made. Higher values make guessing slower for attackers but also cost your server more.
Why is each hash different for the same password?
A random salt is included in every hash. The salt is stored inside the result, so verification still works with the same password.
